The Washington Post while quoting a senior Israeli military official wrote:

Extensive investigations have been started regarding this matter, and the manner of death of these three people and the shooting of the soldiers against them is against Israel's laws of war. The death of these 3 people by internal forces has increased the internal pressure against the Israeli authorities to release all the prisoners detained by Hamas.
