Eghtedari, 27, defeated South African Alexa Pienaar 3-0 in the final of the squash tournament held in Johannesburg, South Africa. The victory marked a milestone for Iranian squash, as Eghtedari became the first Iranian woman to win a gold medal in the sport.

This is not Eghtedari’s first taste of success on the international stage. She previously won a bronze medal at the World Squash Federation's ranking tournament in Kolkata, India.
