NOURNEWS- In the last Iranian calendar year March 21, 2022, to March 20, 2023, over 4.2 million metric tons of non-oil commodities worth $2.3 billion were exchanged between Iran and Pakistan, showing a 30% growth in weight and 48% in value in comparison to the previous year.
Rouhollah Latifi, spokesman for Industry, Mine and Trade House of the Trade Promotion Commission of Iran, said on Saturday that more than 3.5 million mt of goods worth over $1.4 billion were Iran’s share of exports to Pakistan and 746,700 million metric of goods worth over $841.8 million were Iran’s share of imports from Pakistan out of the total $2.3 billion trade in the last Iranian year.
Iran’s last year exports to Pakistan witnessed a 20% growth in weight and 18% in value in comparison to the figures in the year before, Latifi said, adding that the Islamic Republic’s imports from the neighboring state also increased by 119% in weight and 170% in value.
He referred to the trade volume between the two countries in the spring of the current year, noting that Iran’s exports to Pakistan reached 968,000 million metric of commodities worth $438 million in this spring that was accompanied by a growth of 57%, and that the imports from Pakistan to Iran also reached 140,443 million metric worth $176 million because of restrictions on rice imports in the current year comparing to the same period, which shows 10% decline.
