Iran, Tajikistan sign four cooperation agreements to enhance ties in key sectors

Iran and Tajikistan have signed four cooperation agreements to strengthen their relations in key sectors, including energy, labor and social welfare, technology, and railway transport.

Iran’s First Vice President Mahammad Reza Aref and Tajik Prime Minister Kokhir Rasulzoda put their signatures on the documents in Dushanbe on Thursday.

During a joint press conference after the signing ceremony, Aref called for the implementation of the agreements as soon as possible.

He also noted the two countries enjoy strong political ties.

"The shared positions of Iran and Tajikistan on regional and global issues, as well as their cooperation in regional unions, are promising for the development of bilateral relations in all fields," he added.

Rasulzoda, for his part, expressed confidence that the signed documents will play an important role in promotion of relations between Iran and Tajikistan in the fields of economy, investment, health, science and technology.

He further called for the reinforcement of economic and investment cooperation, saying the two friendly and brotherly states have good cooperation in regional and international organizations.

Heading a high-ranking delegation, Aref arrived in Dushanbe on Thursday to hold meetings with Tajik officials and attend the International Conference on Glaciers' Preservation.

Tajikistan, in collaboration with UNESCO and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), is hosting a high-level international conference on glaciers' preservation from May 29-31 to highlight the vital role of glaciers in maintaining global ecological balance and addressing water-related challenges.
