Nournews: Mahin Zarrin-Panjeh was a well-known artist in music in Iran. She passed away in Motel-Ghoo city in the northern Mazandaran Province. She was born into an artistic family with an interest in music. Her father was Nasroullah Zarrin-Panjeh, a master of the “tar” and “setar” [two Iranian instruments], and her mother was Safiyeh Yehganeh, a skilled player of the “tar” and “tombak.”
Zarrin-Panjeh started learning music when she was a little child and was always loyal to the traditional roots of Iranian music. She collaborated with prominent musicians for years and produced numerous songs and musical performances.
Zarrin-Panjeh was among the first women musicians in recent decades who were active in playing classical music independently in Iran and thrived in her field in a masculine environment. Her works and teachings are still a source of inspiration for young female musicians in the country.
