In a message posted on X, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said uranium enrichment is non-negotiable in any future nuclear agreement.
“There is a reason why only a few nations master the ability to fuel nuclear reactors,” he wrote.
“Iran has paid dearly for these capabilities, and there is no scenario in which we will give up on the patriots who made our dream come true.”
Araghchi described enrichment as a product of Iran’s financial commitment, industrial base, and academic-technological infrastructure, key ingredients that have allowed Tehran to develop peaceful nuclear technology despite years of international sanctions and pressure.
Clarifying Iran’s position in the indirect talks with the US, he added, “No enrichment, no deal. No nuclear weapons, we have a deal.”
Iran and the US have so far held five rounds of indirect talks on a replacement for the 2015 nuclear deal.
However, the talks have faced an obstacle over the US demand for Iran to stop enriching uranium under any new deal.
Iranian officials have firmly rejected the demand.
