Bojnord has an ancient heritage: archaeological findings indicate that this area has been inhabited since the Medes and Achaemenid periods. The current city was established during the Safavid era around the ruins of "Jarmagan." During the Qajar period, the city witnessed notable architectural developments, such as the construction of the beautiful "Mofakham’s Mirror Hall" (Āyneh Khāneh-ye Mofakhkham), which today has been converted into an ethnographic museum.
