Muslim nations’ defensive prowess essential to foil Israel’s plots: Iran president

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian says the brutal Israeli aggression against the Islamic Republic shows that strengthening defensive power is a necessity for all Muslim countries to thwart the regime’s plots.

In a phone conversation with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Saturday, Pezeshkian called on Muslim countries to promote cooperation to neutralize the Israeli regime’s “hostile” measures.

“In cooperation with each other, Muslim countries can guarantee growth and development and the establishment of peace and tranquility in the region,” he said.

"Cooperation and strategies of the leaders of Muslim countries can foil the plots and malice of the Zionist regime against the region,” he added.

He emphasized that the criminal Israeli regime holds no value for human rights and international law and kills ordinary people, scientists, leaders, officials, and military personnel of countries whenever it wishes.

Pezeshkian said the Israeli aggression amid indirect nuclear talks between Iran and the United States showed the regime’s intention to obstruct the negotiations and prevent a possible agreement.

In brazen contravention of international law, the Israeli regime launched a military strike on Iran on Friday, bombing nuclear civilian infrastructure and assassinating several nuclear scientists, as well as high-ranking military commanders.

Less than 24 hours after the Israeli aggression, Iran launched its retaliatory operation – dubbed Operation True Promise III -- by firing a barrage of missiles towards the occupied Palestinian territories.

The operation began immediately after the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, delivered a televised message, saying that the "despicable" Israeli regime would be “rendered helpless” following reprisal by the Islamic Republic’s Armed Forces.

The Turkish president, for his part, condemned the Israeli aggression against Iran and said the regime’s prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, seeks to escalate tensions in the region and his acts blatantly contravene all rights and international regulations.

Erdogan added that one of the objectives of Israel’s attack was to divert public attention from its crimes in Gaza.

Turkey supports Iran and is ready to take every measure to exert pressure on the Israeli regime in order to stop its acts, he said.
