Nournews: The latest Gallup survey (July 7–21, 2025) reveals that while Joe Biden and Donald Trump face record levels of public dissatisfaction, Senator Bernie Sanders remains the most popular domestic politician in the United States. Among foreign leaders, Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli Prime Minister, holds the lowest standing in the eyes of the American public.
Pope and Sanders top the popularity chart
At the top of the list, Pope Leo XIV enjoys 57% favorability against only 11% unfavorable views. He is followed by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky with 52% positive ratings, and Senator Bernie Sanders with 49%. Despite partisan divides, Sanders has managed to maintain a positive image among large segments of American society.
Biden and Trump plunge in public opinion
The poll shows that both former President Joe Biden and current President Donald Trump rank among the most disliked domestic politicians. Biden has a 54% unfavorable rating compared to just 43% favorable, leaving him with a net negative of –11. Trump fares even worse, with 57% unfavorable and 41% favorable, marking a –16 balance. These figures highlight that America’s political polarization has not eased but has instead deepened.
Netanyahu: The most hated foreign leader
Among foreign leaders, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is seen most negatively, with 52% unfavorable views and only 29% favorable. This outcome reflects widespread public criticism of the Gaza war and Tel Aviv’s inhumane policies. Even figures like Emmanuel Macron (30% positive, 31% negative) or Marco Rubio (31% positive, 47% negative) enjoy a relatively better standing than Netanyahu.
A clear message from Gallup: Distrust in U.S. politicians
The Gallup poll delivers a stark message: widespread distrust in American politicians. Most prominent figures — from Biden and Trump to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and Gavin Newsom — show either negative or near-zero balances. The only exceptions are the Pope, Zelensky, and Sanders, who have managed to preserve relative popularity.
Gallup’s findings indicate that U.S. domestic politics is mired in a deep crisis of distrust, while foreign leaders are judged largely by their conduct in wars and diplomacy. Sanders and the Pope, representing moral values and social justice, have earned public confidence, whereas Biden, Trump, and Netanyahu symbolize dissatisfaction and deep divisions within American public opinion.
