Musa al-Sadr’s legacy remains alive: Foreign Ministry spokesperson

Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmail Baghaei says the legacy of Lebanese Shia cleric Musa al-Sadr is still alive and continues to inspire more than four decades after his disappearance.

“47 years have passed since the disappearance of Imam Musa Sadr, yet his principles and legacy remain alive and continue to inspire,” Baghaei said on X late on Sunday.

“At a time when our region faces increasing insecurity, and the stability and unity of countries are threatened by unprecedented seditions, the thoughts and views of Imam Musa Sadr shine like a guiding light that shows us the path of unity, solidarity, and resilience,” the Iranian diplomat further said in his post.

He shared the post on the anniversary of the disappearance of the prominent Iranian-Lebanese cleric. Musa al-Sadr and his two companions were last seen on August 31, 1978, a week after they departed for Libya to meet with government officials there. Their whereabouts remain unknown to this day.
